Esmaltofílicas on Facebook about how to get more coverage with those sheer Glitter Toppers we all have on our shelves. Sometimes you own a really pretty combination of glitter but you need infinite coats to achieve decent coverage, and you end up with super thick nails and a manicure that will never dry, no matter how long you wait... So I decided to share a tip that I have used multiple times when I wanted more glitter coverage, make a glitter gradient or just mix different glitter toppers...

El otro día estaba hablando con algunas de las Esmaltofílicas por Facebook sobre cómo conseguir más cobertura con esos Esmaltes con tan poco Glitter que todas tenemos en nuestras estanterías. A veces tenemos esmaltes con combinaciones preciosas de glitter pero se necesitan infinitas capas para conseguir una cobertura decente, y acabamos con uñas super gruesas y manicuras que nunca secan, no importa el tiempo que esperemos... Así que decidí compartir un truco que he utilizado muchas veces, cuando quería más cobertura de glitter, hacer un degradado con él o simplemente mezclar varios glitters diferentes...
Here you can see what you can do following this tutorial. What you need is a colour of your choice for your base, a glitter topper, a make up sponge and a topcoat, a thick fast drying topcoat as Seche Vite if possible.
Aquí podeis ver lo que se puede conseguir siguiendo el tutorial. Lo que necesitais es un escoger un color para la base, un topper de glitter, una esponja de maquillaje y un topcoat, uno denso y de secado rápido como el Seche Vite a ser posible.

Paint your base colour first, I chose Yes Love Pastel Yellow, then take your Glitter Topper and paint the make up sponge with it, wait until the clear base has been absorbed by the sponge (1-3 seconds) and press it onto your nail. The glitter will adhere to your nails but you won't have a thick coat of clear polish with it. Repeat until you get the desired look. Finish with topcoat to smooth it. So easy right?
Pinta el color de base primero, yo he escogido Yes Love Pastel Yellow, luego con tu Topper de Glitter pinta la esponja de maquillaje. espera hasta que la esponja haya absorbido la base transparente (1-3 segundos) y presiona en tu uña. El glitter se pegará en tus uñas, pero no tendrás esa capa gruesa de esmalte transparente. Repite hasta que quede como tú quieres. Termina con Topcoat para alisarlo. Que fácil ¿verdad?
Here I used two coats of Yes Love D7 on each finger, except for the ring finger, made with the tutorial. (Excuse my nubbin on the thumb... I had an accident and it's recovering slowly)
Aquí utilicé dos capas de Yes Love D7, mi Topper de Glitter, en cada uña, excepto en la del dedo anular, que la hice con el tutorial. (Perdonad mi uña del dedo gordo, tuvo un accidente y se recupera lentamente)
Also I would like to share some tips to make sure you succeed when you try this tutorial:
- Try to wait between applying the glitter coats. This will reduce the drying time and the chance of getting bubbles like the ones on the picture.
- Dab gently with the make up sponge. The glitter will stick easily to your nail anyway and if you dab too hard or too many times you will get bubbles or even ruin your base colour!
- You also can try making a rolling motion (Like if you were stamping) to get the glitter on your nail instead of dabbing.
También me gustaría compartir algunos trucos para asegurarme de que teneis éxito al hacer el tutorial:
- Intenta esperar un poco entre las capas de glitter. Esto reducirá el tiempo de secado aún más y las posibilidades de que salgan bubujas como las de la foto.
- Presiona con suavidad con la esponja. El glitter se pegará facilmente a tu uña de todas formas y si presionas demasiado fuerte o demasiadas veces pueden salir burbujas o incluso estopear tu color de base.
- También puedes intentar hacer un movimiento envolvente (Como si estuvieras estampando) para pegar el glitter en la uña en vez de presionar.
I have used this technique multiple times, and not just to get more dense glitter, but to make glitter gradients, or glitter sandwiches, even to mix different glitter toppers to create a complete new look! It's all about reducing the thickness of the final manicure.
He utilizado esta técnica muchas veces, y no solo para conseguir mayor densidad de glitter, sino para hacer degradados de glitter, glitter sandwiches, e incluso para mezclar diferentes toppers para crear un nuevo look! Se trata principalmente de reducir el grosor final de las manicuras.
